TENNESSEE BAN ON CELLPHONE USE WHILE DRIVING

12 Aug

THE STATE OF TENNESSEE HAS JOINED OTHER STATES IN BANNING HANDHELD CELLPHONE USE WHILE DRIVING.  THE LAW GOES INTO EFFECT ON JULY 1, 2019.

AFTER JULY 1, IF SOMEONE IS CAUGHT IN VIOLATION OF THE LAW, THEY COULD FACE A $100 FINE.  IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT THE CITATION INCREASES TO A $200 FINE.

THE SCIENCE OF FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY TEACHES US THAT THE MIND BECOMES FIXED ON ONE THING, AND AN INDIVIDUAL CAN EASILY COMPLETELY FORGET ALL OTHER SURROUNDINGS – IN THIS CASE THAT THE INDIVIDUAL IS DRIVING ON THE ROAD WITH OTHER HUMAN BEINGS AROUND.

A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHEN THE HUMAN MIND FAILS TO WORK AS IT SHOULD IN THE SURROUNDING ENVIRONMENT IS THE AIRLINE PILOT.  MY FATHER IS AN INSTRUMENT RATED PILOT.  THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU THINK YOU ARE ASCENDING, WHEN YOU ARE ACTUALLY DESCENDING.  THERE ARE TIMES WHEN YOU DON’T KNOW UPSIDE FROM DOWN.  THE PILOT MUST RELY ON INSTRUMENTS.

THERE ARE OPTIONS.  BLUETOOTH TECHNOLOGY HAS ALLOWED DRIVERS TO TALK WITHOUT TAKING THEIR FOCUS OFF THE ROAD.  SHOULD YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, VISIT US AT WWW.KJONESLAWYERS.COM.
