RURAL DEVELOPMENT

GOVERNOR BILL LEE HAS PLACED AN ISSUE ON THE TABLE TO INCREASE ECONOMIC AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES IN RURAL COMMUNITIES.  COMMENSURATELY, IT IS EXPECTED THAT THERE WILL BE AN INVESTMENT IN HIGH SCHOOL VOCATIONAL TRAINING AND AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION.

CHRONIC HEALTH PROBLEMS

ACCORDING TO AN AUGUST 2018 EDITION OF THE KNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL, THERE ARE AVOIDABLE HEALTH PROBLEMS IN THE STATE OF TENNESSEE THAT ARE BREAKING THE BUDGET.  TENNESSEE IS IN THE BOTTOM 10 OF THE LIST ON ISSUES SUCH AS OBESITY, TYPE 2 DIABETES AND HEART PROBLEMS, WHICH THE GOVERNOR’S FOUNDATION ON HEALTH AND WELLNESS DEEM TO BE “BEHAVIOR-RELATED” HEALTH PROBLEMS.  ONE UNDERLYING PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT TENNESSEE LAGS BEHIND OTHER “HEALTHIER” STATES IN HOUSEHOLD INCOME AND THE NUMBER OF COLLEGE-EDUCATED RESIDENTS.
